IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Ziva David
Canon: NCIS (Original)
OU/AU/OC: OU
Canon Point: Post Season 10
History: Here’s a wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziva_David But, it’s not updated to include season 10, so, I’ve included a previous history section I’ve written… I’m wordy, sorry.

Ziva David was an agent for one of the teams of NCIS, under Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Originally, she was added to the team as a liaison for the Israeli agency, Mossad. She was sent to NCIS following Caitlin Todd's murder by Ari Haswari, her half brother. They shared the same father, the Director of Mossad himself. Originally, she was sent to NCIS as his control officer, and to try to keep NCIS from killing him because she believed in his innocence of Agent Todd's murder. Soon though, she discovers that he's not innocent, and ends up killing him after he corners Gibbs, after this incident, she was assigned to Gibbs' team.

Before coming to NCIS, Ziva grew up in Israel, with her father. She's Jewish, and while this is not heavily touched on during the TV series, she is seen keeping kosher, and wearing a Star of David. Ziva has been a part of Mossad for most of her life, she was already part of the organization when her sister was killed in a suicide bombing, and this was after her (assumed two year) period of service in the Israeli army. She claims that she volunteered for Mossad, and that she was not recruited to the organization.

Some of the most memorable cases for Ziva while working for NCIS include the one when she first arrives. She is Ari’s control officer, and comes to visit the team to try and keep them from killing Ari, convince that he didn’t do anything wrong, and was actually in contact with him during the duration of her stay that first episode. In the end, she realizes what really happened, and was the one who killed him, while Gibbs took the fall so that she won’t be persecuted by her family.

She once went undercover with Tony DiNozzo, her partner in NCIS. They went undercover as two assassins who had been killed, in order to find out what they had been keeping from other assassins. Another memorable moment with Tony found them trapped in a shipping container along with crates of supposed explosives and counterfeit money. They lead Gibbs and McGee to their location by using the money to create a trail out of the vents of the container.

She also was involved in a case where she began to realize what hurt love could create, falling in love with a man who was dying due to radiation poisoning while they were trying to figure out who was poisoning him. She actually knew him from when she went running, he was a person who she saw every day, but never noticed until then. Now, she misses him daily as she continues to run the same path, wearing the bright orange hat that he gave to her before he passed away.

The one that left the biggest mark was the death of Jenny, the Director of NCIS. Ziva and Tony had been assigned to be her bodyguards, and Jenny had told them to take the day off while she went to face down some people she had been after in Europe. Ziva wanted to get Tony to go and check on the Director, but had finally given up after a few phone calls with Jenny, telling her to stop worrying. But her worry was warranted, as the next time they saw her, she was dead, falling during a shoot out with a group of people.

After earning her spot in Gibbs's team, and the respect of her colleagues, Ziva worked there for years, before after the former Director's death, she was sent back to Israel for a period of time. She was actually sent back to help discover a mole that was located within NCIS. After the mole was discovered, she was sent back to NCIS. But, the original mole was not the right person, and they were able to discover the correct person, and secure NCIS again. She’s worked various cases with the team since then. After the death of a Mossad agent in America, at the hands of her partner, Ziva ends up back in Israel, working for Mossad. She’s sent to infiltrate a terrorist cell, and is captured and tortured by the members of the cell. She refuses to discuss what happened even in psych evaluations and therapy.

After a period of time (the series doesn’t reveal this) Tony, McGee, and Gibbs show up to rescue her, seemingly thinking that she is dead, as Tony wants to get revenge for her death. After returning back to the United States, she becomes a probationary field agent, as she is not an American citizen. She continues her work with NCIS, all while studying for her citizenship exam. She soon becomes a citizen of the U.S. and still works as an agent for NCIS, becoming a full agent. Up until then, she had been a probationary (Probie) agent.

The next year, Eli David (Ziva’s father), the director of Israeli Mossad visits the US during a conference, and Ziva is with the team who is designated to keep him from being assassinated by Palestinian terrorists. They don’t succeed, and before he leaves, it’s shown that he makes peace with Ziva after the incident with the terrorist cell in Somalia. The next year, she discovers that her boyfriend, Ray, is a CIA liaison to NCIS (and secret, she wasn’t supposed to find out), and begins to doubt their relationship due to catching him in a lie. He ended up proposing to her, but she declined after finding out he had killed someone involved in a case they were working on.

She ends up trapped in an elevator with Tony after a terrorist attack on the Navy Yard. They manage to get out of the elevator and proceed to try to rebuild their lives, taking down the terrorist (Harper Dearing) who had bombed the Navy Yard. They managed to find him and terminated him with ‘extreme prejudice’ on orders of the President.

Eli returns to Washington, saying he’s there to work on healing their relationship. It ends up he is also there to work with a semi-powerful Iranian to try to help start peas in the Middle East. This plan is discovered, and while at Shabbat dinner at the Director’s home, an assassin arrives at the home, opening fire on the house and murdering her father and the Director’s wife. Before that, she had admitted to her father there may not be a chance to mend their relationship, as she discovered he had murdered someone a few days prior during his visit. Even though she said this, when she sees that her father is dead, she breaks down sobbing and praying a Hebrew prayer over the body.

At this point, Ziva’s main focus is revenge for her father’s death. She’s formally banned from working on the investigation, but gets involved anyway. They find out that it was someone Ziva had known since childhood, Ilan Bodnar, who killed her father, and becomes fixated on her revenge. After she realizes it was him, he attempts to kill her, but she manages to leave Tony’s apartment (where she was staying) before Bodnar can get there.

She returns to Israel to bury her father, and complete her mourning process. It’s at this time that she has (what she referred to as) a moment of weakness and sleeps with a friend, and Israeli operative, Adam Eshel. She returns to the US and to NCIS, continuing to look cool, calm, and collected, while on the inside (and with McGee’s help) is tracking Bodnar’s movements. She tracks him to Rome (which was a farce) then Berlin, where she travels with Tony to chase after him. They catch his brother instead, finding out Bodnar never left the US, and his brother was picking up uncut diamonds to fund Bodnar’s disappearance.

After they return, Bodnar attempts to kill both Tony and Ziva by hitting their car with his SUV. She attempts to kill him, although injured, but fails. Gibbs ends up defying an order from the Department of Defense and gets his entire team involved in the search for Bodnar, although trying to keep Ziva and Vance out of it. Ziva doesn’t go for it, ends up following a lead when the others are in a meeting, and tracks Bodnar to a South African ship in port.

She ends up in a hand to hand fight with him near the top of the ship, which was self defense actually. (At one point, he had a chain around her neck and was trying to choke her.) This was mostly because Bodnar used the fact that Ziva wouldn’t shoot him, and unarmed man, in the back, and led her outside. One Gibbs, McGee and DiNozzo realize that Ziva’s gone, they find the ship and arrive just as she manages to throw him overboard onto the dock, killing him. (She’s kinda scary like that.) She goes back to the Navy Yard to tell Vance: “It’s over.”

All of this ‘under the radar’ and unauthorized work ends up putting Gibbs’ team in hot water, including Ziva. She’s interrogated by a DoD lawyer who ends up arresting Gibbs for concealing evidence and obstruction of justice. When trying to find information to help Gibbs (something he told them not to do) they find out the CIA was using NCIS’ chase of Bodnar to cover up they killed the Iranian that Eli David was meeting with before he was murdered. The investigation into Gibbs expanded, calling into question the entirety of NCIS. Ziva, along with Tony and McGee, end up resigning from NCIS, turning in their badges to Vance, and taking responsibility for what happened.

Personality: Ziva, at first, comes across as a very cold woman. But this is due to her Mossad training. To her, trusting someone is bad because you begin to let your guard down around them after that. But after making it past that wall, people begin to see that Ziva’s a good person, even though she’s cold. She’ll tease her friends, and is willing to help them to the point of risking her life for someone, especially her teammates in NCIS. She’s fairly serious, being forced to grow up so quickly when she was living in Israel, during her training for Mossad, and other of her life’s circumstances. (What do you expect from the daughter of the head of Mossad, growing up in a country in conflict.) But even then, if someone makes it past her walls, she’s funny, and a fun person to be around.

She’s not afraid of men, never has been, never will be. She grew up around them, trained with them, and works with them every day. She tends to think in survival techniques, always worried about making it to the next day, although now as a naturalized citizen of the United States, there’s a little less worrying going on. There have also been times where Gibbs has pulled her off cases because he was worried about the suspect, not Ziva. She has no problems with getting physical with someone, or fighting in any form. The first time the canon meets her ends with her killing her half brother to protect Gibbs. You become her friend, you earn her protection.

Lately, she’s been moody, mostly due to her focus on getting revenge for her father’s death. She’s become slightly snappy, which is probably going to carry on, considering she has an uncertain future. (Although it was shown she was ok with it.) She doesn’t depend on happy endings (having said that herself before resigning at the end of Season 10.)

Strengths: Well, first off, she’s partially a ninja. At least in fandom’s and Tony’s eyes. Part of this is being able to walk silently and sneak up on almost everyone, including co-workers. She’s also not afraid of using any advantage she can find to get herself in, or out, of situations she’s involved in. At least as a human, she’s trained in multiple forms of fighting, from guns and knives to martial arts, she’s even threatened people with paperclips before. She was trained as a Mossad assassin, and who knows that that entails. On top of that, she can speak ten languages (I wish). When it comes to fighting, she has no problems with, or guilt over killing people.

Weaknesses: First off, she has the mentality of ‘act first, think later’ most of the time. Although this has been tempered during her time in the States, she still jumps in most of the time. And, even though this is a pony game, I feel the need to mention she’s ‘normal’. Your run of the mill, easily injured or killed, person…er, pony. And one of Ziva’s biggest weaknesses? Her friends or ‘family’. Once someone becomes her friend, or part of her pseudo family, she’ll protect them and fight for them, no matter what. She’s done this for the team before, and will do it for anyone she deems her friends wherever she ends up. Sometimes, this is to her detriment, as she will sometimes do it blindly, and find out later things were wrong.

Possessions: Ziva, at this point, would normally be carrying her knives, as her badge and gun were returned to NCIS upon her resignation. Granted, she may not be able to figure out how to use them as a pony, without hands, and all. Also on her person is her Star of David necklace, which she is never seen without.

Pony/Animal Type: Earth! Because Ziva with magic or divebombing people from above is scary as anything.

Cutie Mark: The olive branches from the Mossad emblem around a paperclip shaped into a gun.

SAMPLES
First Person:
[An annoyed voice plays.]

Oh, a recording function. Somehow. I will get this /eventually./ Well, this is not where I expected to wake up today… nor did I expect to wake up as some crazy colored pony. Can anyone out there tell me just WHAT is going on here?

[Anyone near where Ziva ended up is going to find a blue pony on her back, still working on that balance thing with four legs and hooves.]

And I am assuming this is nowhere near Washington. I would enjoy some answers and explanations, because this just is not normal! On top of that, how am I supposed to do anything I am used to? No hands means no writing, or knife work until I figure this out. [If you think she’s frustrated, you’re pretty close to right.] But first, I will need to figure out how to walk correctly.

Third Person:
The sun was nice, and warm. She was enjoying lying in the sun and not worrying about things for a moment. But, it wasn’t going to last, because her mind started nagging at her that she hadn’t fallen asleep in the sun, but on her couch. Waking up, she found herself staring at a blue sky with a few clouds floating about. That…wasn’t right. She rolled over to stand up, and found herself on grass. And when she moved her ‘hands’ to push herself up?
She found hooves.

“What?!” They were blue, and white tipped. And not hands. Definitely not hands. Normally she didn’t panic, but this…this was cause for slight panic. Before she freaked out though, she needed to figure out where she was. And that meant, towards that city she could see in the distance. Managing to get herself standing, she found it somewhat difficult to walk. Four legs was definitely different than two. She got a few steps forward, and then fell on her front, growling and swearing to whatever may be listening.

“Ok, if this is a dream, I would like to WAKE UP.” She mumbled before getting up again. This time, she managed to make it a bit more before falling. It was going to be a long trek to the city she could see in the distance, assuming she didn’t wake up before then. This had to be a dream? There were no such things as multi-colored, talking ponies, right?

Revisions:

♥ Regarding Ziva's personality, we know that Mossad and NCIS are two very different work cultures. How has Ziva adjusted in the years since she's become an agent for NCIS? How are her relationships with her fellow co-workers and how might they have changed over the years?

Since joining and working with NCIS, especially after earning her citizenship and becoming a full citizen and no longer a Mossad liaison, she’s opened up more to her co-workers. While she may not be so open and trusting with anyone, her co-workers have become her family at this point. She’s willing to do anything to help them or get them out of (or into) any situation they need help with. With Mossad, she probably didn’t trust many (it’s not touched on in canon, actually), but those she worked with the closest. Example: Her father. Family member, yes. Director of Mossad, yes. She doesn’t trust him much after Somalia, which was the catalyst for her staying in the States. Before that, it was trust and obedience towards her Director, not her father. She still didn’t trust him up until he died, saying he was too far gone for forgiveness during his final trip to the States.

Now, like I said before, the NCIS team has become her family. She trusts them with (almost) everything. An example being the revenge she wanted for her father’s death. She asked McGee to help, and DiNozzo went with her to try to track him down. Along with that, Gibbs and Vance were in on it too. They knew she wasn’t going to stop until she had achieved that final goal. While still secretive (especially if she’s up to something that could be considered ‘no good’), she’s more open, because she trusts them to not lead her astray, or towards something they want, instead of her. She’s still pretty guarded about her personal life though, keeping that close to herself, because really, that’s no one’s business.

♥ Also regarding her personality, how does she take loss or betrayal? How did things like Ari's betrayal, Jenny's death, the attack on NCIS by Dearing, or her own father's death and the attack on the Vance household affect her? For that matter, how does she handle more negative or complex relationships such as that with her father?

Ziva doesn’t take betrayal well. Especially if it comes from someone close to her. Since it normally takes a while for her to trust someone, it can fall apart easily if someone does something that hurts her. What takes a while to build can easily be undone, in a sense. Ari’s betrayal hit her close to home, considering he was the last sibling she had that was alive. Especially since what he did caused her to be the one to kill him. Not only did she lose him, but it was her fault. If someone close to her betrays her, she’s going to want revenge. And she’ll more than likely get it. Look at Ari. Look at Bodnar. If someone goes after her, her family, or her surrogate family in the team, she gets pretty dang defensive and goes right back after them.

Although she is somewhat used to loss, the loss of someone close to her tends to rattle her, a lot. She’ll do her best to keep people from noticing, but it bothers her nonetheless. Even if she wasn’t on the best terms with someone (her father), or they weren’t as close as the team (Jackie Vance), she’s going to do what she can to bring closure to the family, or herself, if she was involved. When her father died, even though they weren’t on the best of terms, she prayed over him, went to Israel to bury him, and came back for revenge. Family bonds run deep, even if the ‘family’ isn’t really blood family. Loyal to the end, even after fights and leaving her home country after her father pretty much abandoned her in Somalia.

Ziva is the queen of giving the cold shoulder though. If she doesn’t like someone, they’re going to know it, even if it’s not the best of social graces. She’ll be silent, she’ll ignore, she won’t include. She’s just going to give them the brush off, unless she has to. (And this is mostly if Gibbs or the Director say she needs to change something.) She didn’t talk to her father much when she was in America, unless he was there for visits (and we saw how that turned out) or she was forced to.
